Well I just noticed I haven't updated in a few months and that is mostly because of the wedding, buying a house and packing the apartment. It's been an insane past couple of weeks. We finally closed on the house and got our keys this past weekend. We've already begun painting (let me tell you I will NEVER paint myself again, I HATE it with a passion) and doing some random work before we move this Saturday. Here's some updates ("perks of being a mom"):
I took Marley to see her new house while Jason was fixing some stuff with his two friends. We were walking outside (Marley and I) and all of a sudden , she got very quiet. I looked down and she was kicking her legs and violently reaching for me. She had tears in her eyes and couldn't breathe, was turning blue. I smacked her on the back a few times and she started vomitting (all over my shirt, it was awesome). I ran to our house with her as she was finally breathing, but screaming hysterically. I knew something was wrong, but didn't know what. She started getting blotchy and had little raised bumps, like hives all over her face, head and neck. We jumped in the car to take her to the emergency room (totally not thinking) but we got pulled over (going 85 in a 25) - Jason stuck his badge out the window and the officer immediately ran up, as he could tell something was wrong. They called a squad and I got to ride in the ambulance with her. They wouldn't let me hold her, which KILLED me looking at her screaming and crying. She was breathing ok, her airways were open and clear. By the time we got to the hospital (yes, Jason beat us there), most of the redness had gone down considerably and she was calmed by a realistic green unicorn stuffed animal. The doctor/nurse thought she swalled something or it got in her mouth, but they don't know what. We have her 9 month check up on Monday so her doctor said it was ok to wait until then to discuss further. I'm hoping we can get an allergy test because I don't even want to mess around with any kind of insect allergy. We are insanely grateful that she is ok and doing just fine, not listening and being a little flower child.
This scarring life event was followed the next day by this delightful story, which also made me cry upon realizing what had just occured. I had off yesterday and had intended to spend the day painting and cleaning the new house. I decided it'd be best not to interupt her schedule and go over to the house after her morning nap. Jason headed over early because someone had to be there when the appliances were being delivered. So, an hour or so goes by, I hear giggles throughout the "nap" and finally decide to just change her and be on our merry little way. When I turned the light on, what I was greeted with will forever be imprinted in my mind. I see a smiling face, COVERED in POOP. Hands, ears, face, MOUTH. DISGUSTING. It was everywhere, her crib, her bedding, the wall, the floor....this child straight out when monkey on our a**es!! I called Jason crying and he tried his best not to laugh (which I instantly knew I'd be saving something for HIM to clean up). I grabbed her and threw her in the tub, at a foot's reach, I was doing my best not to get close. Her room seriously needed a hazardous waste crew to clean up! After her bath (which was VERY quick since the water got dirty pretty fast, and could also be classified as shower since the water never stopped running and the tub never filled), I got her dressed and put her in the playroom, which is roped off and baby proofed. I cleaned her room, threw it all in the wash, and left the tub for Jason to clean. Laugh at me, will you!!??
So my last month/week/days have been very adventure filled. I'm so ready to be in this new house!!
